Lucania in the ropes and more…

On the evening of 30 December, the Museum of Shepherding will host a concert by Mirko Gisonte, a talented guitarist from Lucania. From 6 p.m. onwards, you will be able to enjoy the traditional sounds of Basilicata, those evocative ballads from the archaic peasant world that, skilfully combined with jazz and various influences, will make you travel the world aboard a six-stringed ship.
The route? To enchanted places!
The concert represents a dream come true for the musician who, deeply in love with his homeland, has become an ambassador for the Basilicata Region for the promotion of Lucanian music and culture, realising a design of contamination of knowledge capable of breaking down the barriers of borders.
Mirko’s study and passion, which he has been committed to for a lifetime, have contributed to the formation of a strong musical identity capable of reworking various stimuli and channelling this strength into a unique vision that reconciles the tastes of adults and children.
As part of his ambassadorial activities, he represented his region at the Italian Embassy in Denmark (Copenhagen), an event described by the guitarist himself as the “ram’s head” that allowed him to realise his idea of a united Mediterranean and of cultural contamination on a concrete level.
To get a taste of Mirko Gisonte’s skill and boundless attachment to the Basilicata region, take a look at the video Viaggio in Basilicata, shot in collaboration with the Pro Loco Unpli Basilicata, for which he composed the soundtrack. Or you can listen to the evocative Anathema, taken from the album of the same name. Within this album you can also find a personal reinterpretation of the classic Libertango by A. Piazzolla.
We strongly recommend that you turn up at least half an hour before the performance to check your Green Passes.

Anthology of the Francesco Greco Ensemble
Another unmissable event, which will also take place in the Chiesette della Madonna dell’Assunta, is the concert by the Francesco Greco Ensemble, who will perform pieces from their vast repertoire from 6 p.m. on 2 January.
Francesco Greco, founder and soul of the ensemble, was born in Taranto. He immediately showed a strong inclination towards music, which led him to excel in the study and performance of pieces with the violin, the pivotal instrument around which, in 2007, the “Francesco Greco Ensemble” was founded.
Valuing music performed with classical instruments, but presented with a modern and up-to-date taste, an objective that is demonstrated in their latest effort: Colonne sonore-L’Antologia. The album is a collection of twenty-six soundtracks from the most famous films in history, reproduced as only they know how to do: arousing emotions.
Virtuosic and romantic, always ready to amaze with their superb technique, the Ensemble is ready to leave you breathless in a whirlwind of sensations.
Over the years, they have shown that they know how to bring together and rework classical and operatic music, the mother of all genres, re-proposing this genre from a new and unprecedented point of view, that of Rock. This is the philosophy that guided the Classic Revolution project released in 2018.
They have long been involved in numerous performances, and have always demonstrated their highly theatrical character and flexibility in tackling the performance of differently styled pieces.

You can get an idea of their prowess by listening to the unreleased track that opens the album The Caress of the violin. Again, we warmly recommend that you turn up at least half an hour before the performance for the Green Pass check.
