On 30 December, the Museo della Pastorizia hosted a concert by Mirko Gisonte, a talented guitarist from Lucania. Those present enjoyed the traditional sounds of Basilicata, of those evocative ballads from the archaic peasant world which, skilfully combined with jazz and various influences, took the audience on a six-string ship around the world.
The concert is a dream come true for the musician who, deeply in love with his land, has become an ambassador of the Basilicata Region for the promotion of Lucanian music and culture, realising a design of contamination of knowledge capable of breaking down the barriers of borders.
Mirko’s study and passion, which he has been committed to for a lifetime, have contributed to the formation of a strong musical identity capable of reworking various stimuli and channelling this strength into a unique vision that reconciles the tastes of adults and children.
As part of his ambassadorial activities, he represented his region at the Italian Embassy in Denmark (Copenhagen), an event described by the guitarist himself as the ‘ram’s head’ that enabled him to realise his idea of a united Mediterranean and cultural contamination on a concrete level.
For those who missed the event, but would like a taste of Mirko Gisonte’s skill and boundless attachment to the Lucanian territories, we recommend taking a look at the video Viaggio in Basilicata, shot in collaboration with the Pro Loco Unpli Basilicata, for which he composed the soundtrack. Or you can listen to the suggestive Anathema, taken from the album of the same name. Within this album you can also find a personal reinterpretation of the classic Libertango by A. Piazzolla.
During this performance, the guitarist was able to test out new songs that will become part of his new set list for the 2022 events.
