A warm and heartfelt thank you to Deutsche Sepsis-Hilfe e.V. (DSH), the first and only organisation in the world, based in Berlin – Germany, created to assist people suffering from Sepsis, for having dedicated two whole pages (18-20) in the magazine distributed at organisation level to our tourist brand Visit Castelsaraceno.
A special thank you to Ulrike Redlich who, as a great lover of travel and Italy, came to know Castelsaraceno through the media and contacted our Destination Manager Paolo Borroi to get information in order to devote an editorial in their House organ.
Ulrike promised to come and discover the heart-shaped village in person and to walk across the longest Tibetan bridge in the world. We look forward to welcoming her and all DSH friends to Castelsaraceno as we do so well!
Explained in a few simple words, sepsis (better known as septicemia) is a clinical syndrome characterised by an abnormal Systemic Inflammatory Response (SIRS) triggered by the body following the passage of pathogenic microorganisms from a sepsis outbreak into the bloodstream. If there is no inflammatory component, sepsis is no longer referred to as sepsis, but as ‘simple’ bacteremia (presence of bacteria in the blood, demonstrated by at least one positive blood culture). Sepsis is a potentially very serious condition that goes through stages of increasing severity and as such requires immediate medical treatment.
DSH has more than 350 members, a large network is available where relatives or survivors can also find support. DSH is characterised above all by direct contact with those affected by this disease. Not only members, but anyone who has questions about sepsis or its consequences and needs help can contact the organisation either by phone or in writing. Free information material completes the offer.
Deutsche Sepsis-Hilfe e. V. is independent and is only committed to its members. It is financed exclusively by donations, member contributions and subsidies from health insurance companies. Funding from pharmaceutical companies or other institutions is deliberately avoided.
